THE HIGHEST POINT ON EARTH

  Ecuador's highest point is Mt. Chimborazo. It reaches a height of 20,561 feet. Its lowest point is at the Pacific coastline. If elevation were measured from the center of the Earth the the highest peak, Mt. Chimborazo would be the highest point on Earth, not Mt. Everest! The summit of Mount Everest reaches a higher elevation above sea level, but the summit of Chimborazo is widely reported to be the farthest point on the surface from Earth's center with Huascarán a very close second.
